Assistant Manager – Technical Development (PM) – Yokohama

About the role

The Assistant Manager Technical Development (PM) in Yokohama will lead application development projects for Engineering Plastics, ensuring profitable new business and alignment with the country plan. The role combines technical accountability for the R&D pipeline with close collaboration with sales and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage application development projects from concept to SOP, driving technical milestones such as material homologation.
• Collect market insights and translate customer needs into development initiatives.
• Collaborate with sales on customer complaint handling, negotiate settlements, and minimise financial impact.
• Develop technical proposals for new business opportunities and launch new products with targeted applications.
• Provide technical support for Engineering Plastics and Thermoplastic Polyurethane business units.
• Offer process optimisation on‑site, advising on injection moulding machine size, screw selection and sustainable production.
• Apply material knowledge to select appropriate polymers based on customer requirements.

Required profile

• Proven ability to manage cross‑functional projects and meet technical milestones.
• Strong customer orientation with experience building deep technical relationships.
• Excellent communication skills to work with sales, R&D and manufacturing teams.
