About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) to work on cutting‑edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Japan. The role involves direct interaction with customers to install, maintain and upgrade equipment while using digital analytics for troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and start‑up semiconductor production tools at customer sites.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Troubleshoot issues using digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques.
• Provide technical support to customers and coordinate with global engineering teams.

Required profile

• Graduates (2026‑2027) or recent graduates from overseas universities or graduate schools.
• STEM background (electrical, mechanical, physics, chemistry) or humanities with strong interest in technology.
• Fluent Japanese for customer communication and ability to work in English.
