About the role

The Behavioral Health Optimization Program (BHOP) seeks a Clinical Social Worker to provide on‑site mental health services at Misawa, Japan. Working within a specialty mental‑health clinic or a patient‑centered medical home, you will act as a behavioral health consultant and facilitator, delivering brief, evidence‑based interventions to military personnel and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual, family, group, and couples psychotherapy, as well as alcohol and drug treatment evaluations.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in mental‑health, inpatient, and electronic medical records.
• Consult with medical staff, legal authorities, military commanders, and school districts as needed.
• Participate in mandatory military‑specific training, including security clearance procedures, suicide‑prevention protocols, PTSD and combat‑stress education.
• Complete Air Force Phase I and Phase II Behavioral Health Care (BHC) training.
• Provide brief cognitive‑behavioral interventions in primary‑care settings following the Air Force BHOP Practice Manual, typically in 15‑ to 30‑minute appointments.
• Manage appointment flow efficiently, confirming consultation issues and engaging patients promptly.

Required profile

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker or equivalent mental‑health professional authorized to practice in the United States.
• Eligibility for U.S. security clearance and willingness to undergo military‑specific training.
• Ability to work onsite in Misawa, Japan, and adhere to all local security and safety policies.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with medical personnel, commanders, and community partners.
