About the role
BirdLife International is seeking an experienced conservation professional to lead and develop its Tokyo office’s programmes, expanding partnerships and protecting birds, habitats and nature in Japan and overseas.
Key responsibilities
- Formulate and implement environmental conservation strategies in Japan and abroad.
- Expand corporate CSR and “Nature Positive” partnerships and secure grants such as the Keidanren Nature Conservation Fund.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing supporters while acquiring new ones.
- Plan and deliver a range of conservation activities in collaboration with staff and global colleagues.
- Mentor and develop line‑managed staff.
- Travel regularly for local and international meetings.
Required profile
- University or postgraduate degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant conservation or environmental work experience.
- Fluent English (TOEIC 800+ required) and strong communication skills.
- Commitment to BirdLife’s mission of bird and habitat protection.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
What we offer
- Annual salary JPY 5.5‑6.5 million, based on experience.
- 10‑20 days of paid leave per year (pro‑rated during probation).
