Customer Engineer – Advanced Packaging

About the role

The Customer Engineer works on site with semiconductor manufacturers to install, maintain, and upgrade advanced packaging equipment. This role combines technical troubleshooting with direct customer interaction to ensure reliable equipment performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment, including advanced packaging tools.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Coordinate directly with customers, schedule service visits, and communicate status and recommendations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, trade certification, or equivalent field service experience.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support in a technical environment.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and work in a clean‑room environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (≈25% of time) and obtain a passport.

Required skills

• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Effective written and verbal communication in Japanese.
