Customer Engineer II – ETCH Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Customer Engineer II to support ETCH equipment in Hiroshima, Japan. You will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor and display manufacturing tools.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
