Customer Engineer II – Field Service (EPI)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while working closely with senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience (2–4 years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Physical ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.

Required skills

• Digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques.
• Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems and thermodynamics.
• Proficiency with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
