Engagement Manager - Professional Services

About the role

Databricks is looking for an Engagement Manager in Tokyo to assure customer success by driving customer satisfaction across the customer success and services lifecycle, from orchestrating the engagement to delivery and beyond. The role positions, prepares, manages delivery and follow-up of professional services and training engagements, partners with Sales, Field Engineering, Support and Product teams, and reports to the Director, Professional Services.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with sales early in the sales process to understand customer needs, define success and exceed delivery expectations
• Identify opportunities for new services and articulate the business value of upsells or service extensions
• Meet and exceed Professional Services and Training bookings and revenue targets
• Articulate customer success stories, services offerings and metrics that show value to the customer
• Consult with clients on engagement scope, requirements, time, cost and benefits, and estimate, scope and write statements of work
• Resolve delivery challenges, address resource contention and scoping issues, and manage expectations

Required profile

• Production-level implementation experience as an engineer or project manager preferred
• Experience selling services at implementation, advisory, education and change management capacity
• Track record of identifying customer needs and delivering solutions
• Experience owning projects in agile (Scrum/Kanban) and waterfall methodologies
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Prior experience writing proposals to consulting, SI or software/cloud vendors highly preferred

Required skills

• Knowledge of end-to-end data systems implementation from technology, operations and security/governance perspectives
• Excellent spoken and written Japanese and written English
• Strong presentation, proposal and stakeholder alignment skills
