Medical Affairs ID/Vaccine Executive Director

About the role

Be in charge of ID/Vaccine and take responsibility for multiple therapeutic areas, including vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, HIV infection, and related products. The Executive Director leads the Medical Affairs team, collaborates with cross‑functional partners, and reports to the Head of Medical Affairs while acting as a liaison for global V&I Medical and Scientific Affairs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Country Medical Affairs Plan (CMAP) and align it with global V&I strategy across all therapeutic areas.
• Manage budget, human resources, hiring, placement and training for the franchise.
• Supervise evidence generation, publications and Investigator Sponsored Research, ensuring scientific and ethical standards.
• Lead compliance, quality and promotional review processes, guaranteeing adherence to internal policies and Japanese regulations.
• Represent the franchise in Japan Development Teams and cross‑functional committees, providing medical insight to senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in R&D, Medical Affairs or equivalent pharmaceutical functions.
• Strong scientific expertise in vaccines, monoclonal antibodies or infectious diseases, with a record of publications.
• Excellent communication in Japanese and English, with ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven leadership skills, including budget responsibility, talent development and results‑oriented team management.
