Medical Oncology Head (Band Level 7)

About the role

The Medical Oncology Head defines and executes the country-specific medical strategy for the oncology therapeutic area, serving as the country's scientific leader. The role covers scientific engagement, medical education, evidence generation and cross-functional support, ensuring high scientific standards across the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt international medical plans into a country-tailored strategy covering pre-launch, launch and lifecycle management, and set and oversee the local data generation strategy (RWE, HEOR, evidence generation, Phase IV/IIIb)
• Provide scientific and clinical expertise to inform trial design, feasibility and local clinical programs, and act as the disease area expert for Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory, Commercial and Digital
• Ensure ERC/compliance in all medical activities and materials
• Lead peer-to-peer scientific exchange with HCPs and Medical Experts, oversee MSL strategy and field engagement, gather external insights and train internal teams
• Design and run medical education, symposia, hospital meetings and congress activities, and produce scientific communication materials
• Plan publications, partner with Medical Customer Excellence on event planning and vendor management, and support EE Capability Building curricula
• Build partnerships with Medical Experts, scientific societies and academic institutions, and represent the company as the scientific ambassador in the therapeutic area
• Foster a high-performance culture, develop talent and strengthen succession across the country organization

Required profile

• 7+ years in Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development
• Experience in the Oncology therapeutic area and a proven track record in medical strategy across the product lifecycle
• Prior leadership experience
• Experience in scientific engagement with HCPs and Medical Experts, evidence generation, publication planning and clinical data interpretation
• Cross-functional collaboration with Market Access, Regulatory, Marketing and Commercial
• Experience leading medical education, congress activities and external scientific events
