Operations Engineer

About the role

The Operations Engineer will work within a DevOps‑focused environment, supporting both application squads and the central Ops team. The role combines deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure optimisation across a global cloud footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise more than 100 AWS instances across 50+ VPCs worldwide.
• Manage a large fleet of Linux‑based IoT devices, ensuring uptime and rapid incident response.
• Design, implement and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
• Research best‑practice solutions and advise internal teams on platform enhancements.
• Collaborate with junior engineers, providing mentorship, training and documentation.
• Monitor systems using SumoLogic and AWS CloudWatch, responding to alerts and performing root‑cause analysis.
• Drive initiatives that enhance cloud infrastructure, including containerisation and serverless architectures.

Required profile

• Strong background in AWS and cloud operations.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and advanced container concepts.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation.
• Solid Linux (Ubuntu) system and network administration skills.
• Experience creating training material and mentoring junior team members.
