About the role
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to support its Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in Fukuoka, Japan. The incumbent will work closely with Japanese ministries, agencies, local governments, the private sector, academia and civil society to advance sustainable urban development initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate assigned programmes and projects, monitoring progress and analysing results.
- Review relevant documents and reports, identify issues, and initiate corrective actions.
- Liaise with partners and ensure timely follow‑up on actions.
- Provide substantive support to maintain existing partnerships in Japan and identify new collaboration opportunities with private sector, local authorities, foundations and academic institutions.
Required profile
- National Officer with strong knowledge of Japan’s national context and urban development landscape.
- Proven ability to collaborate with ministries, agencies, JICA, local governments, private sector entities and civil society organisations.
- Experience working under the supervision of senior programme managers and reporting to senior regional leadership.
