Senior Scientist – Biostatistics & Decision Sciences

About the role

The Senior Scientist will support the design and execution of statistical analyses for clinical development and medical affairs programs within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines in Japan. Working closely with Quantitative Sciences & Clinical Pharmacology and other drug development teams, the role contributes to regulatory and business commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Apply high‑quality statistical methodology to study design, sample size calculations, scenario simulations, and data analysis using R and SAS.
• Implement advanced statistical techniques, including data‑adaptive methods and AI, to address complex project challenges.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal colleagues, CROs, and consultants to ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables.
• Represent Statistics & Decision Sciences on various teams, contribute to process improvement, standards development, and scientific publications.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Statistics or related field (or Master’s with equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in statistical programming (SAS, R) and familiarity with tools such as East Horizon, RPACT, FACTS, Python.
• Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English, with ability to translate complex statistical concepts for non‑statisticians.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary, cross‑functional environments within pharmaceutical research.
