Sommelier – Fine Dining & Wine Program Lead

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sommelier to lead the wine and beverage program at Hotel La Neige in Hakuba Valley. The role combines fine-dining service, French cuisine expertise and bar operations, offering a varied and rewarding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, curate and continuously develop wine lists for the restaurant and bar, focusing on French and Italian selections.
• Source wines, manage the cellar, and build relationships with importers, distributors and producers.
• Provide tableside service, guide guests through pairings and create bespoke tasting experiences for VIPs.
• Train front-of-house staff on wine knowledge, service etiquette and upselling techniques.
• Oversee beverage ordering, inventory, licensing compliance and financial performance, including pricing and cost tracking.

Required profile

• Recognized sommelier certification (CMS, WSET Level 3 or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Sommelier in a fine-dining or high-end hospitality setting.
• Legal right to live and work in Japan (visa support available for the right candidate).
• Strong command of English and Japanese.
• Deep knowledge of French and Italian wine regions; familiarity with sake and Asian beverage trends is a plus.
