Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Agents, Multiple Levels)

About the role

Salesforce is hiring a senior Forward Deployed Engineer in Tokyo to lead complex AI agent deployments for its most strategic clients. The role combines hands-on implementation of bespoke solutions on the Agentforce platform with leading technical engagements and mentoring junior peers. It requires 5+ years of experience and fluency in Japanese and English.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end technical delivery of complex AI solutions, writing critical code, configuring systems and troubleshooting, while reviewing the work of juniors
• Design, develop and implement scalable production systems, including AI and LLM-based intelligent agents and automated workflows on the Salesforce platform
• Work directly with customers to build custom intelligent agents that fit their business needs and integrate with their ecosystems
• Own the data lifecycle, from data model design to processing pipelines and integration strategies
• Resolve complex technical blockers, debug and perform root cause analysis on system interactions, data flows and AI model behavior
• Build proofs of concept and MVPs, often coding alongside client teams
• Advocate engineering best practices for code quality, scalability, security and maintainability
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to client teams and share field insights to influence product enhancements

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on, end-to-end delivery experience in production solutions
• Computer Science or related engineering background
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor juniors and lead technical engagements
• Ability to travel 25-50% of the time to customer sites
• Fluency in Japanese and English (written and verbal)

Required skills

• Expert-level proficiency in one or more languages such as JavaScript, Java, Python or Apex
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM technologies, including LangChain, LlamaIndex, prompt engineering and agentic frameworks
• Data modeling, processing and integration, with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce Data Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks or BigQuery
• Preferred: Apex and Python, Salesforce certifications, Salesforce Flows and Lightning Web Components, experience in regulated industries
