Public Policy Analyst – Tokyo Office

About the role

GR Japan is seeking a Public Policy Analyst to join its Tokyo office. You will work at the intersection of business and government, helping multinational clients navigate Japanese policy and engage with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct public policy research, analysis, and report writing.
• Develop strategic outreach plans and engage with government officials, Diet members, media, and other policy stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project leaders to implement engagement strategies.
• Prepare customized proposals to win new business and support client satisfaction.

Required profile

• Passion for public policy and politics with solid understanding of Japan’s policy‑making process.
• Excellent research abilities and sound judgment.
• Creative, proactive approach to solving complex policy challenges.
• Self‑starter capable of handling new client demands.
• Native‑level Japanese reading and writing (JLPT N1/N2) and strong English proficiency (high TOEIC score).
• Two to three years of experience in government relations, international business, or Japanese ministries is a plus.
