Account Director – Financial Services – Tokyo

About the role

OpenAI’s Go‑to‑Market team is looking for an Account Director to drive AI adoption in the Financial Services Industry. Based in Tokyo, you will work in a hybrid model (3 days onsite) and receive relocation assistance. The role blends technical insight, strategic vision, and partnership to guide customers through the full sales cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of key financial services accounts, creating and executing comprehensive account plans.
• Lead enterprise prospects from consideration through successful AI deployment.
• Partner with solutions and research engineering to design and deliver complex customer programs.
• Own and forecast consumption‑based revenue targets.
• Analyze account metrics, producing reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor industry trends and competitors to inform product roadmap and corporate strategy.
• Collaborate across solutions, marketing, communications, operations, finance, product, and engineering teams.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and the development of company culture.

Required profile

• 7+ years selling PaaS and/or SaaS solutions in the Financial Services sector.
• Native‑level proficiency in Japanese.
• Consistently achieved >$1M annual revenue targets for at least three years.
• Proven experience designing and executing complex deal strategies.
• Track record of working directly with C‑level executives.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for customers and internal teams.
• Experience leading high‑visibility customer events and gathering market intelligence.
