Backcountry Rental & Operations Supervisor

About the role

The Backcountry Rental & Operations Supervisor leads the daily backcountry rental and operations support function at Rhythm in Niseko. Reporting to the Operations Logistics Manager, you will ensure that all guest equipment, avalanche packs, guide gear and operational tools are prepared accurately, safely and on time throughout the ski season.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coach the Backcountry Rental & Operations Assistants during daily activities.
• Set daily priorities, allocate work and coordinate with Guest Services, Backcountry Programs and guides.
• Prepare, fit and inspect touring skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, skins, poles and related gear.
• Maintain accurate inventory, equipment records and oversee cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure safe and correct fitting of avalanche packs and guide equipment for every departure.
• Support cross‑department logistics and provide clear daily leadership to the rental team.

Required profile

• Previous experience in ski or snowboard rental operations or a related outdoor‑equipment environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards.
• Ability to lead a small team, train staff and give constructive feedback.
• Good organizational skills and the capacity to manage inventory and daily logistics.

• Equipment fitting and sizing for backcountry ski and snowboard gear.
• Inventory management and record‑keeping.
• Team leadership and coaching.
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of outdoor equipment.

What we offer

• Seasonal hourly wage ranging from ¥2,300 to ¥2,550 (monthly equivalent ¥400,200‑¥443,700).
• Travel allowance up to ¥100,000, reimbursed on actual flight cost.
