About the role
The Business Development Manager will join the Japan team of an expanding British consulting firm, supporting international clients in the medtech and life‑sciences sectors. You will drive market entry and growth strategies, build relationships with Japanese customers and partners, and act as the commercial bridge between global innovators and the local market.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement market entry and growth strategies for international medtech and life‑science clients in Japan.
- Manage the full sales and licensing cycle from lead generation through negotiation and account management.
- Identify, approach and meet potential customers and partners, building a robust sales funnel.
- Gather market feedback, refine client strategies and provide regular progress updates.
- Arrange and support client visits, including interpretation and cultural guidance.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Japan within pharmaceuticals, medical devices, IVD or life‑sciences.
- Science degree (biology, chemistry, biotechnology, biochemistry, immunology, biomedical science or related).
- Business‑level fluency in Japanese and English.
- Strong interest in business development, innovation and international healthcare markets.
Required skills
- Understanding of pharmaceutical, medical‑device or IVD technologies.
- Ability to explain complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
