Business Development Representative (VIE) – Japan

About the role

Alta Ares is launching its first commercial presence in Japan and is looking for a Business Development Representative on a VIE contract. You will be the company’s eyes, ears, and voice in the Japanese defence market, shaping the initial go‑to‑market strategy and building early relationships with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Map Japan’s defence ecosystem, including MOD, armed forces, prime contractors and innovation bodies.
• Identify procurement programmes, capability gaps and innovation initiatives that match Alta Ares’ AI‑guided interceptor portfolio.
• Produce regular market intelligence reports for the Paris leadership team.
• Initiate and develop first‑contact relationships with institutional stakeholders, industrial partners and potential clients.
• Represent Alta Ares at Japanese defence events, industry forums and bilateral exercises.
• Prepare partner‑facing materials, capability presentations and meeting briefings in Japanese and English.
• Qualify inbound interest and flag concrete partnership or sales opportunities.
• Serve as the operational bridge between Japan and Alta Ares HQ in Paris, coordinating logistics, visits and communications across time zones and cultures.

Required profile

• 0–3 years of professional experience, preferably in defence, aerospace or high‑tech sales.
• Strong interest in defence modernisation and emerging AI‑driven technologies.
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership and navigate complex organisational structures.
• Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English.
