Customer Engineer I – Field Service

About the role

As a Customer Engineer I at Applied Materials you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading advanced semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while working on-site in a clean‑room environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Coordinate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high service quality.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Digital analytics tools for equipment troubleshooting.
• Basic diagnostic techniques for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Hand tools, digital multimeters, and familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and thermodynamics.
