Customer Engineer II – Field Service (Hokuriku)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer II you will act as the primary liaison with Applied Materials’ customers in Hokuriku, Japan, installing, maintaining and upgrading semiconductor and display equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while working closely with senior field service engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Utilize digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support experience (2–4 years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and a valid driver’s license.
