Full-Stack Engineer - Teleoperation Platform & Applications
AI Robot Association · Heiwajima
Job description
About the role
AIRoA is building a web platform that lets operators remotely control humanoid robots in homes and living environments, together with operator and resident-facing applications. You will design, build and maintain the platform end-to-end, from real-time transport and access control to the operator UX, and integrate the data produced into the ML/VLA and data-platform teams. The stack is a Go backend (Domain-Driven Design, Clean Architecture), two Next.js/React apps, low-latency video, audio and ROS telemetry, and AWS infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement teleoperation systems: real-time control, low-latency video/audio/telemetry transport and operator UI.
- Work with robot operators to improve the operator experience, session reliability and data quality based on real-world feedback.
- Develop and run web apps and internal tools for data collection, such as mission/task management, robot and operator management and monitoring dashboards.
- Build configuration-management systems for robot configurations, task definitions and operator assignments.
- Design and implement APIs for data interaction between internal services and external data sources.
- Integrate with the core robot and data infrastructure, collaborating with the VLA and Data/ML teams on data ingestion and workflow management.
- Ensure secure communication with robust authentication and access control, including role-based access and service-to-service authentication.
- Run the platform across development, staging and production, including Infrastructure as Code, database migrations and observability.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4+ years of professional experience as a full-stack engineer, with backend and frontend proficiency.
- Experience leading technical decisions as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, Manager or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with the full development lifecycle, from requirements to operations.
- Business-level Japanese communication (JLPT N2 or above, or several years at a Japanese company).
Required skills
- Backend: Go and/or Python (FastAPI), layered/clean architecture, relational databases.
- Frontend: Next.js and React, typed API clients, state management (e.g. TanStack Query, Zod).
- Cloud and infrastructure: AWS or GCP, Terraform.
- Preferred: microservices and event-driven architectures, DDD, large-scale data processing, ROS/ROS2.
