Manager III, Customer Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager III, Customer Engineer to lead the customer engineering team in Chitose, Japan. The role involves building strong customer relationships, overseeing installations, and driving financial performance for the district.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with all customers in the district, conducting regular visits.
• Manage, coach, and direct customer engineers, including salary and career planning.
• Serve as the primary interface with product divisions for technical support, training, spares, and reliability.
• Lead account planning with the District Sales Engineer and provide support plans for system sales.
• Oversee system installation activities, from pre‑facility meetings to start‑up and process support.
• Manage RMA procedures, financial forecasting, and cost‑efficiency targets for the district.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership ability to guide a team of engineers and conduct performance appraisals.
• Strong business acumen to meet financial results and execute account planning.
• Effective problem‑solving skills within defined procedures and policies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting technical information and gaining cooperation.
