Manager III, Customer Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions that enable the production of chips and advanced displays. The Manager III, Customer Engineer will be based in Chitose, Japan and will lead a district of customer engineers, driving technical support, installations and relationship management for semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain customer relationships across the district, performing regular visits and acting as the primary interface with product divisions.
• Manage, coach and direct all customer engineers, handling salary and career planning, performance appraisals and corrective actions.
• Oversee account planning with the District Sales Engineer, financial forecasting, cost efficiency and system installation projects.
• Execute escalation procedures, monitor the CSD Award and mentor programs, and manage RMA processes and engineer effectiveness metrics.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team, provide direction according to company policies and ensure compliance with global standards of business conduct.
• Strong judgment to solve problems within defined procedures, assess impact of decisions on schedules and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to gain cooperation, present technical information and mentor new engineers.
