About the role

The MDP Customer Support Technician I works in Nishi Tokyo, providing Tier I support and preventative maintenance for critical equipment that drives AI and next‑generation chips.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Tier I procedures, preventative maintenance and wet‑cleans, seeking assistance when needed.
• Assist senior engineers with corrective maintenance tasks.
• Disassemble, clean and rebuild kits as part of kit‑management quality control.
• Learn and apply basic diagnostic techniques and use documentation and test equipment with senior‑engineer guidance.
• Diagnose and resolve basic technical problems.
• Follow established best‑known‑methods (BKMs) and IP guidelines.
• Represent Applied Materials professionally to customers, maintaining good customer service at all times.
• Maintain an orderly work area and comply with all safety procedures.

Required profile

• Physically demanding role requiring extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 35 lb, and work in tight spaces.
• Ability to work in a clean‑room environment using appropriate PPE (coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, etc.).
• Basic analytical skills and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• No supervisory responsibilities; works as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• Ability to distinguish colors and tolerate moderate noise levels.
