Mechanical Engineer – Semi-/Full-Humanoid Robots

About the role

AIRoA, the AI Robot Association, is collecting one million hours of humanoid robot operation data with hundreds of robots to train Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, and is building an open robot data ecosystem. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work on the development of semi- and full-humanoid robots used in AIRoA's projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop semi- and full-humanoid robots used in AIRoA projects
• Develop teleoperation systems, including leader-follower systems
• Develop robotic hands
• Build verification and validation environments and develop jigs and fixtures

Required profile

• Masters' degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, including product, mechanism and/or enclosure design
• Business-level Japanese (JLPT N2 or above)
• Extensive experience designing mechanical products, assemblies, tools and jigs/fixtures
• Experience with prototyping, verification and validation, and DFx design

Required skills

• 2D drawing creation and revision; 3D CAD such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Onshape or Creo
• Mechatronic design and integration with electrical and software teams
• Material selection, tolerance definition and stack-up analysis
• Preferred: FEA (ANSYS, Abaqus) and motion simulation (Adams, Gazebo); robotics, kinematics and dynamics; ISO 13482 knowledge
