Software Engineer - Autonomy

About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Autonomy team, you will develop the real‑time onboard software that powers multi‑ton trucks to drive autonomously on highways. Your code will run directly on the vehicle compute platform, handling sensor ingestion, perception, planning, and safety arbitration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise real‑time modules for perception, sensor fusion, path‑planning execution, vehicle control and safety monitoring.
• Maintain the middleware that connects lidar, radar, cameras and GPS/IMU hardware to autonomy algorithms.
• Own latency and throughput performance across the onboard compute stack, profiling and tuning for deterministic behaviour.
• Implement ASIL‑relevant fault detection, isolation and recovery mechanisms.
• Build diagnostics, logging and observability tooling for post‑drive analysis and rapid root‑cause investigation.
• Write unit, integration and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for onboard targets.

Required profile

• Strong background in embedded or real‑time software development for safety‑critical systems.
• Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams including hardware engineers, safety leads and validation groups.
• Ability to deliver production‑grade code that meets stringent performance and reliability requirements.
