Technical Quality Expert (Medical Editor)

About the role

ICON Strategic Solutions is hiring a Technical Quality Expert (Senior Medical Editor) in Tokyo, working in a sponsor-dedicated model supported by ICON's global expertise. The role ensures the accuracy, clarity and quality of scientific documents and publications related to clinical trials, with a hybrid and remote office arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Edit and proofread scientific documents such as clinical study reports, regulatory submissions, publications and presentations, ensuring quality standards and consistency.
• Collaborate with medical writers to improve the clarity and effectiveness of scientific content, giving guidance on structure, style and language.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, guidelines and best practices in medical writing and publishing.
• Mentor and train junior editors and medical writers, and help develop SOPs for document editing and quality control.
• Fact-check and verify data to ensure the accuracy of published materials.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes and advances in medical writing and editing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or a communications-related field.
• Extensive experience in medical editing, with a strong understanding of clinical research and regulatory documentation.
• Ability to work independently and guide others.
• Legal right to work in the country where the role is based.

Required skills

• Exceptional editing and proofreading skills, with knowledge of medical terminology and scientific writing conventions.
• Experience using editing style guides.
• Proficiency in editing software, tools and document management systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
