AML Compliance Manager - Japan

About the role

Manulife is hiring an AML Compliance Manager for its Legal & Compliance function in Japan. The role supports the Japan business on AML/ATF, FATCA/CRS and ASF matters, covers external and internal AML/ATF audits and ad-hoc projects, and works closely with the regional AML/ATF team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day advice and support to the Japan business and operations on AML/ATF, FATCA/CRS and ASF matters.
• Review and enhance the Japanese AML/ATF compliance framework, including policies and guidelines.
• Handle regulator and law enforcement enquiries, investigations and audits, and drive remediation and enhancement works.
• Keep up with regulatory changes, carry out gap analyses and ensure timely implementation.
• Prepare, review and deliver training on regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Work with the regional team on case onboarding, including enhanced due diligence, and train and guide the AML Compliance team.
• Prepare periodic reports for the Board, regional and global compliance and senior management.
• Lead and coordinate ad-hoc AML/ATF projects and perform other duties assigned by the Head of AML Compliance.

Required profile

• Experience in financial institutions, preferably insurance or banking.
• Knowledge of FSA and LIAJ AML/ATF regulations; ACAMS membership is an advantage.
• Strong English and Japanese, verbal and written.
• Experience managing IT development and enhancement projects.
• Independent, analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
