Bakery Technologist (Asia Pacific)

About the role

Lesaffre, which has served its Asia Pacific customers for decades with a regional headquarters in Singapore, is looking for a highly dynamic and enthusiastic Bakery Technologist in Tokyo. The role balances strategic vision with practical execution and contributes to the continued development of Asia Pacific as part of the company's global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support: demonstrate yeast and baking ingredients (dry, fresh and frozen yeast, bread improvers, sourdough) at the Baking Center, partner premises and client sites such as craft, in-store and industrial bakeries.
• Assist industrial and craft bakeries with process and recipe improvements, troubleshooting and claims processing together with the quality department.
• Run training and workshops for bakers, distributors and Lesaffre employees.
• Collect and report technical market information on product positioning, competitors, trends and changing customer needs.
• Identify customer needs and competitor positioning, then provide technical data to run product development analyses (new products, testing, atypical products).
• Work with the laboratory and formulators on new yeast and ingredient solutions, including optimizing their use and presentation, and validate performance and user perception before launch.
• Contribute to marketing documentation and support the marketing department in building product arguments.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the bread-baking process (raw materials, manufacturing processes, applications) with successful operational experience in technical support for craft and industrial bakeries.
• Good communication skills: listening, clear oral expression and the ability to convince and train.
• Customer-oriented, able to turn client needs into an action plan and product offering.
• Team player who can also work independently on daily operations, with summarizing and reporting skills.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule and travel within Japan, South Korea and the wider Asia Pacific region.
• Fluent English; local language is an advantage.
