Field Applications Engineer

About the role

KLA is hiring a Field Applications Engineer in Yokohama within its Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit. The Customer Engagement (CE) division is a field-based group of technical experts who partner with customers to deliver KLA's portfolio of inspection, metrology and analytics systems that support yield improvement from R&D through high-volume production. The role advances business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Project management: identify and manage priorities and milestones, build a clear schedule, track progress and work with Defectivity and Metrology Applications Engineers, Business Unit management and the Division; prepare project summaries for executive meetings.
• Customer communication: establish regular contact, present the system's value for customer use cases and differentiate it from competitors, communicate results and issues to the Division, execute action plans and collect data.
• Pre-sale support: assist sales and marketing on potential opportunities and competitive situations, and help brainstorm strategies for penetrating new customers and gaining adoption.

Required profile

• Master's degree with 0 years of related experience, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience.
• Native-level Japanese (N1 or above).
• Business-level English.
• Ability to drive situations with facts, work in multicultural environments and deliver projects under pressure.

Required skills

• Knowledge of advanced optics, physics and material science.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor process technologies; IC process background is a plus.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, and project management experience handling multiple projects in parallel.
