Field Service Engineer (Electrification)

About the role

ABB is hiring a Field Service Engineer for its Electrification business unit's service department in Tokyo. The role covers service work with low to medium complexity, carried out according to ABB's standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines, with a focus on getting things right the first time. The work model is hybrid, combining on-site work with remote tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Work with customers on site to identify opportunities to improve their operations and eliminate pain points.
• Perform field service tasks such as inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting, and analyse technical issues remotely or on site.
• Prepare material lists for service activities and ensure parts and equipment are available and of appropriate quality.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Support installation supervision, commissioning and adjustment, and maintenance of power distribution equipment (high- and low-voltage switchgear, protective relays, ring main units, transformers, circuit breakers, UPS, voltage dip compensation systems).

Required profile

• College of Technology graduate or above; engineering background preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of service or related experience in the electrical field.
• Japanese at native level (JLPT N1 equivalent); English at business level, including email, chat and face-to-face communication.
• Domestic driving licence and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Basic knowledge of industrial electrical products is welcomed but not required.
