Project Engineer - Power Distribution Equipment

About the role

ABB in Japan is hiring a Project Engineer in Tokyo, reporting to the ELDS Project Solutions Manager. The role provides technical support and solution delivery for electrical and power distribution products used in infrastructure projects such as data centers and large-scale facilities. About 70-80% of the work is on large projects, with 20-30% on smaller ones.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support during post-order project kick-off meetings.
• Deliver technical solutions for electrical and power distribution products for infrastructure projects, including data centers.
• Lead specification integration by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and on-site installation partners.
• Act as a key contact for internal teams (overseas manufacturing and engineering) and external partners (construction contractors and subcontractors).

Required profile

• Technical college degree or higher in engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in the same industry (power distribution equipment).
• Team leader experience.
• JLPT N1 or above in Japanese; reading and writing level in English (TOEIC 600 or higher).
• Ability to work in a multicultural, matrix organization and to take initiative quickly.

Preferred: engineering degree (especially electrical) and business-level conversational English.
