Field Service Engineer - Power Grid Integration

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY JAPAN, LTD., within its Grid Integration business unit, is looking for a Field Service Engineer in Tokyo. The business delivers more than 4,000 projects over 15 years across transmission and substation applications, including HVDC, substations, FACTS, grid and power quality solutions such as offshore wind connections, and semiconductors. The role covers on-site commissioning and testing, technical support and coordination with suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute on-site commissioning and testing during deployment projects of power grid integration.
• Provide technical customer support, including troubleshooting, repair and testing, on-site or remotely, in and out of warranty.
• Coordinate with Hitachi Energy factory engineers, sub-suppliers and subcontractors to meet requirements.
• Support the sales of operation and maintenance business development as a core member of the technical team.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
• Live the core values of safety and integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least 3 years of experience in field maintenance or construction of power grid systems.
• High fluency in Japanese (native level preferred).
• Experience communicating with domestic and overseas suppliers; fair English communication.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of the power grid industry and business aspects.
• Operation and maintenance of substation equipment, and knowledge of power grid system configuration.
• Technical documentation and drawings related to power grid systems.
• Proficiency in JEC, JEM and electrical equipment technical standards.
• Familiarity with IEC standards is an advantage; Japanese electrical certificates and licenses are an advantage.
