Finance Director - Group Finance, Treasury, FP&A and Controls

About the role

An established, growing Osaka-based group focused on disciplined investment and sustainable growth is strengthening its finance leadership to support better decision-making, capital allocation and governance. The Finance Director reports to the CEO and the Board and leads the group finance platform, turning financial information into clear commercial advice across reporting, planning, treasury, investment support and governance. The role offers a pathway to Group CFO and a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and annual close, J-GAAP reporting, consolidation and intercompany governance
• Build the budget, rolling forecast, KPI framework and management reporting, and drive corrective action on variances
• Own cash, liquidity, funding requirements and group cash management
• Develop financial models and give independent recommendations on investments, acquisitions and financing
• Oversee Japanese tax, external audit and relationships with external advisers
• Strengthen internal controls, governance and disclosure readiness, and standardise group reporting, budgeting and subsidiary oversight
• Build and lead the finance team and improve finance systems, data and reporting efficiency

Required profile

• Substantial finance, accounting or banking experience, including meaningful finance team leadership
• Hands-on finance management experience in a Japanese business environment
• Clear, confident communication with executive leadership and the Board
• Listed company, large group or transformation experience, a recognised accounting qualification and professional English are highly regarded

Required skills

• Working knowledge of J-GAAP, Japanese tax and audit
• Strong FP&A, treasury and commercial insight
• Experience in financial modelling, financing or acquisitions
