HR Manager – Japan

About the role

We are seeking an HR Manager for IMI Process Automation in Japan. The role will partner closely with the Managing Director and the leadership team to drive the local HR agenda, aligning with IMI’s global people strategy and culture.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director, setting HR goals and updating policies in line with business strategy.
• Lead the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations and succession planning.
• Develop and execute local HR and sector strategies to support business growth and organizational effectiveness.
• Manage the HR budget, control costs, and oversee compensation and benefits programs in compliance with company rules.
• Coordinate annual salary surveys with Mercer and local consultants to maintain market competitiveness.
• Drive inclusion and diversity initiatives and engage employees through people‑centric programs.
• Maintain and report HR data, ensuring headcount aligns with the finance system and updating the HR information system.
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance, reporting hazards and incidents as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR business partner or manager in an industrial or engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of Japanese labour market and ability to translate global HR policies into local practice.
• Experience managing HR budgets, compensation structures and conducting salary benchmarking.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and act as a change agent.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese.
