HR Manager – Japan

About the role

IMI Process Automation is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the full employee lifecycle for its Japan site. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will act as a trusted business partner, aligning local HR initiatives with the global people strategy and supporting the company’s growth across industrial and process automation markets.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director to define HR goals, update policies, and ensure alignment with business strategy.
• Serve as an internal communications ambassador, translating global strategy into local HR practices.
• Design and deliver training programs based on departmental skill matrices.
• Drive organization development, including grading systems, competency reviews, and succession planning.
• Manage the HR budget, control costs, and oversee compensation and benefits programs.
• Conduct annual salary surveys with Mercer and local consultants to maintain market competitiveness.
• Promote inclusion and diversity through employee engagement initiatives.
• Maintain HR information systems, produce accurate reporting, and ensure headcount data aligns with finance.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, reporting hazards and incidents as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an HR business partner in an industrial or engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of Japanese labour legislation and HR best practices.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and drive change.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience managing HR budgets, compensation, and benefits.
