Medical Science Liaison - Immunology, Tokyo

About the role

Johnson & Johnson's Medical Affairs Group in Tokyo is recruiting a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for its Immunology department. The role sits in the Medical Affairs (MAF) group and focuses on immunology, with three levels of responsibility: Specialist, Senior Specialist and Senior Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Build trust with key individuals (KIs) in the therapeutic area and implement the medical plan through scientific communication, while keeping communication fair and neutral with healthcare professionals.
• Gather and report unmet medical needs and optimize the value of Janssen products.
• Specialist: lead the MSL group's projects and tasks in the therapeutic area, and mentor young MSLs.
• Senior Specialist: ensure the success of projects across the MSL department and the MAF DA team, and contribute to the formulation and revision of the DA strategy and medical plan (MAP).
• Analyze and share key MSL findings with the DA team, and represent complex scientific data to build trust with KIs at a higher level.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above; MA/MS/MBA or doctorate in medical science or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical industry or medical institution is desirable.
• Experience in clinical development, medical affairs or research is desirable.
• Business-level Japanese and English, and adherence to Johnson & Johnson's Credo values and integrity guide.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret clinical research reports and literature using statistical concepts, and to contribute to research proposals and protocols.
• Competence in scientific communication, including multi-channel engagement and medical education programs.
• Strategic agility, cross-functional collaboration and partnership building with external stakeholders.
