MQ-9 Avionics Technician Lead (Japan/Deployable)

About the role

The MQ-9 Avionics Technician Lead is a highly qualified aircraft electronics and Ground Control Station (GCS) technician who leads, performs and inspects organizational-level maintenance on the MQ-9 aircraft. The role supports the USMC MQ-9 Site Manager and is part of a Deployment Pool, supporting deployments to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required; flexibility in deployment schedules is needed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of avionics technicians in daily aircraft maintenance and troubleshoot complex electronics problems using test equipment and technical publications.
• Perform daily launch and recovery duties and maintain electrical generators, load banks, starters, relays, batteries, actuators, circuit breakers, switches and instruments.
• Analyze circuits, calculate waveforms and trace signal flow with instruments such as high-frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers and distortion analyzers.
• Maintain, repair and install electronic equipment, make log entries, act as QA and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
• Train junior technicians, sign off work in NALCOMIS/OOMA or IMDS, and recommend improvements to maintenance procedures.

Required profile

• Active Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required).
• 8 years of aircraft avionics and/or GCS maintenance experience, including 3 years on MQ-9 aircraft or GCS.
• CDI or Red-X inspector designation for MQ-9 aircraft.
• Able to lift more than 50 pounds, speak, read, write and understand English, hold a current state driver's license and a valid US passport with at least two years remaining.
• Able to travel on CONUS/OCONUS deployments and meet OCONUS deployment criteria, including pre-deployment medical screening.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of aircraft mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and component replacement.
• Knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 NAMP and/or DAFI 21-101.
• Preferred: prior team supervision, recent MQ-9 avionics experience, Associate degree, IAT Level II certification, deployment experience and defense contractor background.
