Partner Development Manager – Japan

About the role

Cohere, a security‑first enterprise AI company, is expanding its presence in Japan. As a Partner Development Manager for the Japan Enterprise Market, you will drive strategic partnerships, co‑create AI solutions, and accelerate adoption of Cohere’s foundation models across Japanese enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the partner go‑to‑market plan for Japan, aligning with regional business objectives.
• Identify, recruit and onboard high‑impact partners such as system integrators, distributors, ISVs and cloud providers.
• Lead partner certification, training and enablement programs to ensure effective selling and deployment of Cohere solutions.
• Generate joint pipeline and co‑sell opportunities, creating solution plays and joint GTM motions.
• Conduct business planning, quarterly business reviews and track ARR against targets.
• Act as the partner advocate within Cohere, feeding feedback to product, engineering and legal teams and navigating Japanese AI policy.
• Represent Cohere at industry events, delivering thought leadership and evangelizing responsible GenAI.

Required profile

• Native‑level Japanese and business‑level English fluency.
• 8+ years of partner development, channel sales or alliance management experience in tech, preferably AI or cloud.
• Deep knowledge of the Japanese enterprise market and key industry verticals.
• Proven ability to build relationships, negotiate and drive partner success.
• Experience navigating complex regulatory and compliance landscapes, including AI ethics.
• Existing relationships with major system integrators or consultancies (e.g., Fujitsu) is a plus.
