Senior Compliance Officer

About the role

Invesco, a leading independent global investment firm, is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer for its Japan operations. You will work across the APAC Private Markets business, ensuring that all activities meet local and international regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulatory guidelines.
• Interpret and apply Japanese financial regulations such as FIEA, the Real Estate Brokerage Act, and FSA supervisory guidelines to business operations.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities (FSA, MLIT, Financial Instruments Firms Associations).
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings, registrations, amendments, and periodic reports.
• Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries, inspections, data requests, and remedial action plans.
• Collaborate with APAC Private Markets Compliance to design, implement, and monitor compliance programs, policies, and practices.
• Support broader risk management, internal control frameworks, and governance committees.
• Report compliance status to senior management, the Board, and relevant committees.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in regulatory compliance within the financial services sector, preferably in Japan.
• Strong understanding of Japanese financial legislation and supervisory expectations.
• Proven ability to interact effectively with regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of FIEA, Real Estate Brokerage Act, Real Estate Investment Advisory Business regulations, and FSA supervisory guidelines.
• Experience with anti‑money‑laundering frameworks and conflict‑of‑interest policies.
• Ability to develop and maintain compliance policies, controls, and reporting mechanisms.
