Vehicle Safety Operator – Customer Support (Japan)

About the role

If you love cars and want to help shape the future of road safety, this position lets you work directly with autonomous‑driving technology. As a Vehicle Safety Operator you will run on‑road experiments, monitor the Automated Driving System, and provide real‑world feedback to research and development teams while developing new AI‑related skills.

Key responsibilities

• Join a diverse operations team to test vehicles across Japan.
• Monitor the Automated Driving System and react to hazards to ensure safe testing.
• Evaluate system performance during tests and deliver expert feedback to engineers.
• Provide real‑world driving scenarios to train the system before public‑road trials.
• Maintain high safety standards and report any vehicle or safety issues.

Required profile

• Full clean Japanese driving licence.
• Minimum 8 years of driving experience, primarily in Japan.
• Strong communication skills and ability to empathise.
• Comfortable working alone or within a team.
• Adaptable, flexible and problem‑solving mindset.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment and ongoing drug/alcohol testing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
• Basic ability to navigate touchscreen devices, manage Wi‑Fi settings and troubleshoot simple app issues.
