Avionics System Safety Engineer

About the role

This position is for an experienced Avionics System Safety Engineer who will relocate to Nagoya, Japan. You will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams on the safety assessment, verification and certification of avionics systems for a next‑generation aircraft programme.

Key responsibilities

• Perform avionics safety assessments, including SFHA, SSA, FTA and CMA.
• Support system safety analysis, verification and validation activities.
• Develop derived safety requirements.
• Collaborate with design teams and suppliers during design reviews.
• Assist with avionics system certification activities.
• Identify hazards and ensure risks are properly managed.
• Maintain compliance throughout the aircraft development lifecycle.

Required profile

• Professional experience in avionics system safety.
• Good understanding of ARP4761, ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254.
• Knowledge of fault‑tree analysis and CAFTA.
• Familiarity with avionics certification processes.
• Experience in one or more avionics areas such as navigation, communication, indicating and recording, lighting, emergency or other safety‑critical systems.
• Experience with eVTOL, electric aircraft or next‑generation aviation technology is advantageous but not essential.
