Consultant - Tokyo

About the role

Oliver Wyman, a business of Marsh, is hiring consultants for its Tokyo office. Consultants are core members of the consulting team, working directly with clients on projects. The position suits motivated professionals with relevant prior experience and offers strong career and growth opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the execution of individual project workstreams, including developing hypotheses, collecting data, building models and running analyses, and conducting primary and secondary research
• Synthesize findings into written presentations and review them with clients and other stakeholders
• Support the Partner group in project delivery with accurate, high-quality execution
• Report to Engagement Managers and Principals, seeking guidance on technical expertise and senior advice on project execution and client engagement

Required profile

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally with a top-tier strategy consulting firm or similar organization
• Fluency in English is required for all Oliver Wyman offices; fluency in Japanese is mandatory for the Tokyo office, with a JLPT N1 certification required for candidates who have learned Japanese
• Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program
• Willingness to travel and to work fluidly and respectfully with the team

Required skills

• Familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, SQL and Python
• Strong strategic problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication in formal and informal settings
• Initiative, creativity and aptitude for analytical work

The role is hybrid: colleagues are expected to be in the local office or onsite with clients at least three days per week, with anchor days when the team meets in person.
