Customer Engineer I – Field Service (MDP)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer I you will act as the primary liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading Applied Materials equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostics to resolve technical issues while gaining hands‑on experience across multiple system domains.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics tools for troubleshooting.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment and address issues under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn electrical/mechanical schematics.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
• Ability to meet on‑site safety, environmental and COVID‑19 requirements.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of customer/field service experience and knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
