Customer Engineer II

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a DDP Customer Engineer II to serve as the primary liaison with customers in Yokkaichi, Japan. The role involves installing, maintaining, and upgrading semiconductor and display equipment, using digital analytics and basic diagnostics to resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior field service engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience (2–4 years preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.
