Customer Support Technician I (PDC)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for semiconductor and display manufacturing, is seeking a PDC Customer Support Technician I in Yokkaichi, Japan. The role involves providing Tier I support, performing preventative maintenance, and assisting senior engineers in a clean‑room environment.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Tier I procedures, preventative maintenance, and wet‑cleaning tasks, seeking assistance when needed.
• Assist senior engineers with corrective maintenance and kit management, including disassembly, cleaning, and rebuilding of kits.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques using documentation and test equipment under senior guidance.
• Diagnose and resolve basic technical problems while adhering to best‑known methods and IP guidelines.
• Maintain a professional demeanor, provide good customer service, and keep the work area orderly.

Required profile

• Physically able to walk, stand for long periods, work in tight spaces, lift up to 35 lb, and wear clean‑room PPE (coveralls, booties, safety glasses, etc.).
• Willingness to follow safety procedures, respect IP guidelines, and work in a noisy environment if necessary.

Required skills

• Preventative maintenance techniques.
