Education Centre Director – Kamakura

About the role

The Education Centre Director leads the Kamakura location, overseeing how learning is delivered, coaching educators, and ensuring the Boundless curriculum comes to life. Reporting to the Head of Education Excellence and working with the General Manager, the role builds on an existing successful team without disrupting proven practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and manage the educator team through regular 1:1s, classroom observations and feedback.
• Ensure the Boundless curriculum is implemented with fidelity, supporting project‑based and place‑based learning in Kamakura.
• Serve as Designated Safeguarding Lead, overseeing child protection policies, training and incident management.
• Maintain strong relationships with families, handling concerns and contributing to admissions.
• Oversee centre administration including payroll review, leave tracking, health & safety, field trips, catering and community events.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading and developing educator teams, delivering constructive feedback and performance management.
• Deep understanding of curriculum execution, project‑based and place‑based learning, and ability to observe and improve classroom practice.
• Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding, with experience implementing child protection policies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with families, able to manage expectations and resolve issues independently.
• Japanese language ability or strong connection to Japan is an asset.
