FEP Customer Support Technician I

About the role

Join Applied Materials as an FEP Customer Support Technician I in Yokkaichi, Japan. You will provide Tier I support and preventative maintenance for semiconductor and display equipment, working closely with senior engineers and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Tier I procedures, preventative maintenance and wet‑cleans, seeking assistance when needed.
• Assist senior engineers with corrective maintenance tasks.
• Disassemble, clean and rebuild kits as part of kit‑management quality control.
• Apply basic diagnostic techniques and operate test equipment under senior guidance.
• Diagnose and resolve basic technical problems.
• Follow established best‑known methods (BKMs) and IP guidelines.
• Represent Applied Materials professionally with customers, maintaining a clean work area.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and promote safety as a core value.

Required profile

• Physically demanding role: extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 35 lb, and work in noisy, tight clean‑room environments with PPE.
• Ability to apply basic analytical or scientific methods to straightforward tasks.
• Understanding of how duties integrate within the team and broader organization.
• No supervisory responsibilities; works under guidance.
• Uses standard operating procedures to solve routine problems and impacts own work.
